Why The Impact Crew TZ exists

I am the Founder of The Impact Crew TZ Organization, a community-based initiative established with a vision of empowering orphaned children and vulnerable young people through vocational training, digital skills, creativity, entrepreneurship, leadership, and personal development.

The inspiration behind this initiative comes from a concern about what happens to children when they grow older and eventually leave children's care centres.

While care institutions play an important role in providing essential needs such as food, shelter, protection, and education, I believe that preparing children for independent adulthood also requires attention to practical skills, employment readiness, financial independence, and access to productive opportunities.

I became concerned that some children could reach adulthood without adequate vocational experience, modern technology skills, equipment, or the support necessary to establish independent livelihoods.

This concern inspired me to establish The Impact Crew TZ, with the intention of contributing to a different future for these children.

Our approach focuses on helping children develop abilities they can use beyond the walls of care institutions. We envision programmes through which children can learn practical trades, explore their talents, understand technology, develop entrepreneurial thinking, and gain the confidence to pursue meaningful opportunities.

Our long-term ambition is to reach children's care centres throughout Tanzania, working progressively with institutions, sponsors, volunteers, businesses, and development partners to make skills-based empowerment accessible to more children.

The organization is still working towards securing the equipment, funding, and partnerships needed to implement its full vision. However, the mission is clear: to develop a sustainable model of empowerment that invests in children's futures, not only their immediate needs.

“Children should not simply be prepared to survive after leaving care. They should be given opportunities to learn, create, earn, innovate, and build independent lives.”

Our mission, vision and core objectives

A clear purpose: skills-based empowerment that invests in children's futures, not only their immediate needs.

Our mission

To empower orphaned children and vulnerable young people through practical vocational training, digital technology, creativity, entrepreneurship, leadership development, and access to resources that can help them build independent and productive futures.

Our vision

To become a recognized force for skills-based empowerment across Tanzania, helping children in care centres develop the knowledge, confidence, practical abilities, and opportunities necessary to participate meaningfully in society and the economy.

Vocational empowerment

Introduce children to practical skills that can support employment, entrepreneurship, and self-employment.

Digital inclusion

Help children develop digital literacy and access technology-based learning opportunities.

Creative development

Nurture talents in fashion, graphic design, animation, textile production, and other creative industries.

Entrepreneurship

Encourage children to understand how skills and creative products can become sources of income.

Leadership & personal development

Promote discipline, teamwork, communication, confidence, responsibility, and positive decision-making.

Life after care

Contribute to preparing young people for the transition from institutional care to independent adulthood.

National outreach

Work towards extending the initiative to children's care centres across Tanzania through partnerships, fundraising, and sustainable programme development.

Vocational skills and practical empowerment

Training plus real equipment—so children practise their skills rather than relying on theory alone.

Fashion design & clothing production

Fashion design, clothing design, sewing and garment production. With training and access to sewing machines, children can learn to produce clothing, repair garments, explore fashion entrepreneurship and develop their creative abilities. The vision includes providing sewing machines and materials to participating centres as funding and partnerships become available.

Batik & textile design

Batik production, fabric decoration, colour application and textile design—with appropriate batik equipment, fabrics and dyes for practical learning. These skills help children explore artistic expression while developing decorative fabrics, clothing and other creative textile items.

Yarn craft & handmade products

Training in crafts made from yarn and related materials—including bags, hats, coats and other handmade products. This encourages patience, creativity, attention to detail and product development, opening further opportunities within the creative economy.

Technology and digital skills

Children growing up today should have opportunities to understand and use technology, regardless of their circumstances.

Digital knowledge opens doors to education, communication, creative work, entrepreneurship and employment.

Graphic design & poster creation

Graphic design, visual communication, digital artwork and the creation of posters and promotional materials—skills that let children express creativity, support community campaigns and explore the design industry.

Website development & digital creativity

Website creation, basic web design, digital content creation and visual storytelling—helping children discover talents that may develop into future professional pathways.

Artificial intelligence education

Introducing children to AI tools and how to use them responsibly for learning, research, creative work and problem-solving—with emphasis on responsible use, privacy, accuracy, online safety and human judgment, so no child is left behind as the digital economy develops.

Access to equipment: a key part of this vision is working towards providing laptops and learning equipment to participating care centres, subject to available funding and partnerships—making digital learning practical and hands-on.

Leadership, life skills and personal development

Technical skills alone are not enough—children also need guidance, confidence, discipline and the ability to work with others.

Leadership development

Children are encouraged to develop responsibility, decision-making, accountability, confidence, and the ability to contribute positively to their communities.

Teamwork & communication

Through collaborative activities, group projects, and practical exercises, children develop communication, cooperation, mutual respect, and problem-solving skills.

Drug awareness & prevention

Age-appropriate education about drug-related risks, prevention, healthy decisions, and the importance of seeking appropriate guidance and support.

Personal growth & goal setting

Children are encouraged to identify their interests, recognize their strengths, establish personal goals, and develop constructive plans for their futures.

Entrepreneurship & financial awareness

Introducing children to basic financial literacy, saving, responsible money management, product development, and the relationship between skills, work, and income.

Learning together

Behind every lesson is a simple hope: a future shaped by opportunity, not circumstance. We celebrate each child's effort and potential while respecting their dignity and privacy.
